Morgan, Mark BM3 -- then

Mark Morgan, now!

LCPL's gearing up for another night shift!!!!

Another photo of our LCPL's moored together at our pier. Pier almost washed out to sea during a typhoon that hit us while we were there.

Division preparing for patrol.

Division preparing for patrol.

LCPL 11 (left, no plywood top) and LCPL 12 (Morgan's boat). One more inboard LCPL and one under way.

Flat bottoms bowed into the "ramp" off loading supplies for the 3rd Marine Division who pulled out (left country) while we were up there.

I think this was the EM Club in the back ground, sand bags, tracks, and deuce and a half's in our compound.

One of the many, many USO shows to pass thru Cua Viet. I think this one came thru just after they finished building our EM Club, and just before the NVA blew it up. Think that was on the 4th of July.

9th Army track passing thru after 3rd Marine Division had pulled out... Have some stories I'll tell you some day.

Just another bunch of horny sailors and marines who thought all of those "round eyes" were the hottest things they had ever seen :)

Hootch's looking south in our compound... I was in 47 when I was there, behind me when I took this photo.

On left, OIC Kaeding,

Hope you can see this one John, in the distance is the Missouri after it blew "Tiger Island" out of the water, I think. It's a long way out and I don't know how these are coming thru.

Looking over the top of a PBRat an LST bowed into the "Ramp" off loading supplies for 3rd Marines and us.

Dan Yarbarrough and some of the guys kickin' it in our hootch.

We had a "boat puppy" we acquired just before I was sent home, and we called him "Whiskey" because he'd rather drink alcohol than water. :)

Stoney at the helm of his LCPL making preps for patrol.

Monitor tied up to our pier (part of the SecNav's inspection show)

Couple of PBR's prepped for the SecNav inspection.

Can't remember for sure but think the guy on the right was our LCPL OIC. Guy on the left may have been the Division Cmdr.

A PBR in the river mouth. Fishing village in the background across the river from Cua Viet Base.

Filipino tug and crew we got to know, that were there with us. Turned out to be really good guys.

LCPL 12 was "spruced up" for an inspection by the Secretary of the Navy a few months after I arrived. Have a few photo's of that, a PBR and a Monitor that were "on display" for him (what a joke).

USO show over. Our guys heading back to our hootch. Look closely at the construction in the background. They were building our EM Club.

On our way out to our boats one evening after briefing. Looking NW, while walking across the "ramp".

The hootch I spent my days (?) in. :) Many a fond memory of one hang over or another in and around that little hotel!!!!!

Tried to take a photo thru our "NOD" monster Starlight Scope we had mounted on a tripod on the plywood top of our LCPL. Can see the elevation lines on the right of the photo.

LCPL 12 (fiberglass hull) on left, metal hull LCPL next to pier, getting ready for another night.
